July Challenge - Eclipse

Welcome to our first challenge back, hosted by ...

We're so happy to be here!
It great to be back creating for the CAS Mix Up Challenge!

Members from our past team ...

and joining the team for the first time, welcome ...

Mixed Media Challenge
Thank you!

There are different ways to do the Eclipse technique (also called Hidden Word, Camouflauge, etc.).  Basically you need to create a one layer card front with a design.  Then use a die (shape, word, frame) to cut into the card front.  More layers of the same die are cut (either a few layers of cardstock ... or one layer of foam), and adhered together.  Then adhere the original die-cut from your card front on top.  Add your card front to your card base and adhere the thick die-cut (shape, word, or frame), back in place lining up the design.

You can use either of the options below, or feel free to use your own version of the Eclipse Technique.  We hope you'll play along.  Please use the linky provided at the bottom of the post to enter your card(s).

CAS Mix Up is back! :)

Hi everyone.

After a long absence, I'm happy to re-launch CAS Mix Up Challenge on July 3, 2026.

The challenge will be the same as in the past, rotating between three types of card making ...
Mixed Media
Stenciling
Watercolouring

Challenges go live on the 3rd of each month and will run until the end of the month.  This allows lots of time to create cards following the Guidelines.  Our group of talented Designers will provide cards for inspiration.

Each month, there will be a post one week after the challenge closes, announcing the Winner and Top Three.  The Winner is invited to join us as a Guest Designer for a future challenge.

Below is the list of Designers for CAS Mix Up ...

We hope you'll join us!  See you on July 3rd!

September Winners & Farewell

After 6 1/2 years, CAS Mix Up is closing permanently.

Thank you to all that played along with us.  It's been a joy to visit your blogs throughout the years.  All of us at CAS Mix Up have enjoyed seeing your creative cards using all different mixed media techniques.

I want to thank our amazing designers, who have provided incredible inspiration with their artistic cards.  xx

On to the winners of the last challenge at CAS Mix Up ...

Thanks to everyone who took part in our September challenge to use gesso with your stencils. I just loved seeing and visiting all the examples, I have learnt some more things about using gesso in the process. The hardest thing about being challenge host is choosing the winner and top picks, but a decision had to be made.

Winner of September's Gesso Stenciling Challenge
Michele has let the gesso shine by layering it up with her tree stencils to create
the most wonderful texture, adding glitter to the final layer
makes it sparkle and shine.

Congratulations, Michele

Top Three Picks
(Random Order)

Congratulations, Bobby, Jo and Lucy!
